From a very young age, baking has always been my passion. I graduated from UNC with a degree in Spanish and then went on to the French Culinary Institute in New York City to learn all about pastries. I worked in a well-known cheesecake bakery and for Eleni's, a hand-decorated cookie bakery before moving back to the Triangle area. For the last several years I have worked as a cake decorator specializing in custom, sculpted cakes. I always love a challenge of trying new cake designs and creating new flavor combinations.
About Us Cupcake Girls
I have always loved baking and art since a young age, so it seemed natural to combine the two. Like my sister, I too graduated from UNC with a degree in Spanish, and then decided to go to Pastry School. Then, I moved to New York City where I graduated from the French Culinary Institute with a Grand Diploma in Pastry Arts. After graduation, I worked as a chocolatier for Jacques Torres at his Chocolate Haven store while also completing an externship with Elisa Strauss of Confetti Cakes. I then moved back to the area where I have worked as a pastry chef and chocolatier. My favorite aspects of cake decorating are creating hand-made sugar flowers and making one-of-a-kind sculpted cakes.
